Empties + Misses | Bioderma, Philosophy, Mario Badescu & more...

Empties + Misses
  1. Guardian Cotton Facial Squares - everyone need this in their life. I use this for everything and I go through this like water, so whenever it's on sale I'll make sure to stock it up.
  2. 3CE Fresh Aqua Mist (Mini) - I feel very indifferent with this mist cos I find that it didn't quite do much (?). Other than it being refreshing when you mist this all over your face, it really wasn't any special, and with this price point, there are a lot of other mist in the market with more quantity and do I dare say, better quality? Oh well, to each its own.
  3. Guardian Large Cotton Pads - I bought this one when I was back then in Singapore but I can't find it back home now, which is a bummer, Guardians in Singapore has way way better selection than what I find here. With its extra large size it's so much quicker when I want to remove or apply facial products.
  4. Nivea Extra Whitening Skin Therapy Serum SPF33 PA+++ - Very lightweight, easily absorbed into skin, would definitely recommend it especially for those who doesn't like heavy body lotions. Perfect for daytime use with an optimum SPF protection as well.
  5. Bioderma Sensibio H2O - I love love love this cleansing water. This was also another purchase back in Singapore but bummed that it's so scarce back home. Eventually, I found a store that sells Bioderma but they're almost always out of stock.
  6. philosophy purity made simple cleanser - Pretty decent cleanser that does what it says. I can't complain.
  7. Nivea Body Whitening Night Serum - Similar to the daytime whitening serum, this is very lightweight and moisturing as well. Just right for summer nights when you need to moisturise your body, minus the stickyness that is left behind.
  8. The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream - I received this deluxe size sample jar which is a decent size that could last me a good 1 1/2 - 2 months of usage. I find that it is indeed a very good moisturiser for dry and/or dehydrated skin. Although it's called a cream, it isn't heavy or thick at all, in fact it absorbs really well and leaves no sticky residue.
  9. CURE Natural Aqua Gel - This gel scrub is a highly raved product in Asia, especially in Japan & it is best used within 3-4 months after opening. I wasn't able to use it up within that time frame but I could understand why it is such a hit product. This exfoliates thoroughly and gently without using any harsh or rough beads. Do take note that this product only works when it is used on clean, DRY skin.
  10. Mario Badescu Whitening Mask - I'd say this would fall under the misses part of this post. I didn't use up this tub of mask cos I simply didn't know how to make it work for me. There's something about this mask that feels like I just put on plaster of paris on my face and trying to wash it off is another problem on its own.
  11. Mario Badescu Super Collagen Mask - This one isn't as bad as the whitening mask but I just didn't feel like it did anything it claims to do. It didn't wow me off when I use it and I couldn't be bothered to finish it up. Another misses.
  12. Vaseline Healthy White Serum - This one I actually received it as a sample bottle, so naturally, I took it with me when I was travelling and it's the perfect size. Another good body lotion and I would definitely purchase the full size one.
  13. 3CE Full Cover Concealer - I like this one quite a bit as it does conceals really nicely. I would say it's about a medium to high coverage as it's buildable, depending on your preference and need.
  14. Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs & Rosewater - Maybe it is just mists in general that I don't find anything too special about, just like the 3CE ones aforementioned. I did use this all up but it's one of those products that I could make do with or without it in my life. Well, everyone's skin is definitely different so it's important to get to know and try what's to your liking.
That is it! Guess I'll see you all again in my next post ~

Maybe things are really simple.

Maybe both of us are just who we are, where we're at- the different magnetic poles on the same magnet.

March Favourites | Beauty, Candy & Mini Review

Hello April! It's spring, it's sunny (way too sunny) and it's a brand new month. March has went past us as quick as the wind blows this year and before anyone knows it, it was gone. Although nothing much happened, I did found some things I'm rather obsessed with and loving. Let us go through it together!

1. The lotion I'm in love with for awhile now is the Nivea Body Whitening Night Serum. Body lotions are my thing. If I can only bring one item to a deserted island, it has to be body lotions. Now, don't let the word whitening intimidate you, it doesn't literally bleach  your skin white. 99% of any whitening product in the market are just to even-out skintone and to eliminate dullness from our skin. Nothing too drastic, it's not Clorox. But anyways back to Nivea, I love how it's not sticky at all and absorbs really fast into your skin. Another thing is it also helps fade hyperpigmentation really well with usage over a period of time. I find it fades mosquito bites really well too. I'll definitely repurchase this when I'm finished with this bottle.

2. I've been using the Victoria's Secret Bombshell Body Mist a lot, especially last month. I like to spritz this on all over me before heading out in the day for quick errands or going out for lunch & food or such. Because this is a body mist, I was expecting the scent to not last as long as an eau de toilette but I was surprised as it could last me for the entire day. Or maybe I was really generous on applying it. This is one of their bestselling scent and please go check it out if there's Victoria's Secret near wherever you are cos I can't for the life of me explain scents. I guess for me it has a sweet, fruity accent, rather light, nothing heavy. Perfect for the spring/summer days.

3. I got the The Body Shop Wild Rose Hand Cream back in 2012 which I wrote a haul on then, and I still have the same bottle of hand cream now! I barely made a dent in this tube, I reckon it's still 80% full, this could last me forever even though I've been using it everyday. Maybe cos it's a hand cream and you just need a tiny dot for it to go a long way. I like to use it in the morning for it's SPF purposes and it smells really good too. If you like rose scented stuff, take a sniff of this, you'll love it.

4.  This is the limited edition 2014 LaneigexPushButton BB Cushion with SPF 50! If I'm not mistaken this could be the highest SPF in any BB creams/cushions out there. I like how it has decent buildable coverage for everyday use and very easy to just pat it on whenever to apply or touch-up throughout the day. Koreans are just the next level in their cosmetic game, they're always coming up with things we never even thought about. Btw, I heard that Laneige is collaborating with PlayNoMore this year and I'm so excited for this. Can't wait to get my hands on it when they launch the collection!

5. This is also another limited NY fashion edition by Maybelline Baby Lips lip balm in Protecting Berry, well only the design is limited edition, you could still get the same flavour, Anti-oxidant Berry/Mixberry in the baby blue tube and pink cap. It's very moisturising and I like to put it on before putting on any lipstick. It makes the application glides on really smoothly, even for matte lipsticks.

6. Now, this isn't a beauty product but it tastes so good. My sister gave us this Trader Joe's Gummy Bears from her extended family which just came back from the US. It's just really nice to snack on and addictive I must say. Also didn't help that I have a major sweet tooth myself. Noms away...

So, that wraps up the month of March. I hope you enjoyed my favourites as much as I enjoyed it. Don't forget to let me know your favs in the comments or social media because I'd love to discover new things and products out there, especially if you're loving it too.

Thank you for reading and see you soon! x

The Bedtime Tag

Welcome back to my blog! So as I've promised in my last post that I'll be doing the bedtime tag, I finally did it! I'm very excited cos tags are just so fun to do and it's also a way to get to know me better. So let's not waste any more time and get it started!

Numero Uno...

1. What are your favourite pajamas?
Shorts + oversized t-shirts. Comfort is the key for cozy night time. Anything that I find comfortable in really. Also depending on the weather as well when you're staying in a place where it's summer all year-round. But right now I'm wearing a lot of sweatpants/yoga pants or pajama bottoms.

2. Current bedtime reading?
Lullabies by my favourite poet Lang Leav. It's a lovely book of poetry and the second one from her. I even tweeted it a long while back in September what I was reading before bed. It's been so long and I haven't finished it but there's only a few pages left. I wasn't consistent in reading every night which is something I wanna work on. This is the kind of book that you could read it again and again and each time it'll bring about different feelings and emotions to it. It is a very lovely book and I totally recommend it for light easy reading when you unwind at the end of the day. Although I can't say the same for the emotions it brings.

3. What is on your bedside table?
Here's the thing- my bedside table isn't technically a bedside table cos it's not at my bedside. Hah! I'd used it instead in my vanity area at my mirror as normal storage drawers for my random stuff. I usually just use my chair to put things on when I'm on my bed. So to answer this question would be- my phone, remote control (for miscellaneous electronics in my room) and sometimes earphones.

4. Favourite sleepy scent?
I don't think I have any. I'm actually very particular about scents during daytime or other times when I'm awake but when it comes to night time, I kinda prefer it to be in a neutrally non-scented surroundings when I'm going to bed. I guess I'll say none in particular for this.

5. What is your usual bedtime & wakeup time?
I like the comfort of the dark and silence at night so I normally go to bed really late (or early, I dunno how you see times like this) in the AM. I won't even put a time here cos the hour is just ungodly. Then in the morning it really just depends on what I have going on that day if there's any errands to run or appointments to attend to. It could be 6 a.m. call time or I could sleep in till noon. Who knows? No day is the same for me.

6. Top 3 bedtime products.
My favourite L'occitane Shea Butter hand cream, Spotify sleep playlists & my phone, basically. I need to catch up on my SNS at the end of the day.

7. Your most common sleeping position?
I sleep on my back, always.

8. Any strange bedtime routines?
I'm answering this last because I'm thinking really hard to see if there's any weird things I do before bed & I can't think of any, or at least I think it isn't strange to me. Aside from the routine brush-your-teeth-before-bed and skincare prep kinda stuff, everything seems normal to me.

9. Are you big spoon or little spoon?
You see, I wouldn't know cos I've never spooned with anyone before but I prefer to be the little spoon in this situation.

Annnndddd that's it! That was the bedtime tag. I dunno if it was any fun to read but it was rather interesting to me. It even made me reflect on my nightime routine more than I ever would have. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed it and if you decide to do the tag, let me know in the comments or twitter or wherever I am in the SNS world.

I hereby tag all of YOU!

See you soon!

What went down.

Hello everybody! It's been long overdue, I know and I seriously think it's high time I dust off this blog and start updating. For I guess the past couple of years or so, I put this site into a corner and I wasn't paying much attention to it at all. Posts were scarce like water in the Sahara. Mainly because I simply didn't know what to do with this site. Should I write about my feelings? Emotions? Friends and family stuff? Things I do on the daily? What if I say too much? What will happen when people know too much? I constantly have this back and forth of a conversation in my head and I ended up just leave it as it is. I also had a lot going on in my life where I wouldn't be comfortable sharing with, and I just didn't see the point of writing and having no content.

But in the end, I think if things are bound to happen, it'll happen. I have no reason to beat myself up for it and blaming myself for everything that went the other way, also just to appreciate the blessings and silver lining that came along with it plus things I wouldn't have had if it were to be the other way.

Now deep thoughts aside, updates wise, the beginning of 2015 for me had some unexpected twist and turns - I attended the wedding of my close high school friend. It was so much feels and I'm just so happy seeing her being happy to have found her soulmate. That was back in January. February was a turning point that set the momentum for the entire year. I fell sick and on bed rest for close to a month. Liquid diet and all the other restrictions that made me unable to do anything. I literally only ate diluted liquid oats and drank water for 3 weeks. I wasn't getting any solid foods until the last week of February. It was brutal. I wish never to relive it ever again. And then, I've also made some closure and tying loose ends on issues that should have been handled way earlier and better than how I left it be. But in the end I'm glad I can close that chapter. Right now, I just hope for better months ahead on recuperating and just do what I gotta do.

I've also noticed I never set a specific theme for this site on what I should write about. Most of it are really just rambles and random stuff that I got going on in my head to put in writing. Inconsistent and jumbly for lack of a better word. Albeit, after much consideration I've finally decided on what I wanted to write about - my passion for fashion, beauty and lifestyle & the occasional bits and bobs of my random muses. Still pretty much the same from what I've been writing hahaa.. but an improved version of it all nonetheless. Posts will be more consistent with more content but NO PROMISES. Please don't hold it against me. I am trying my very best here to figure things out, please be patient and I'd be immensely grateful for all the support I get.

SO, that's about it on the things I want to fill you all in on. I'm going to kickstart the momentum on The Bedtime Tag I watched by Fleur DeForce on Youtube for the next post. Do come back and check it out & if you've read all the way here, I give you a pat on the back!

See you soon!

If there is, is there?

If there is such a thing
as romance
Then it's bound to be at the edge
like everything else.

If there is such a thing
as true love
How can you be so sure?
That it's forever real and everlasting.

If there is such a thing
as pain
How can there be happiness?
with all that we suffer.

If there is such a thing
as 'the one'
He must be feeling lonely
hiding from me... for now.

Is there really such a thing
as all the emotions that we feel
wasting our time
or aren't we?
